As the last season in the year of Metamorphosis, the theme for HERMÈS Taiwan winter 2014 windows will also be a transition into next year's annual theme of Flaneur Forever. Using materials that lend themselves to the imagination, we will build up a space that transforms everyday objects into a scenery reflecting the holiday spirit. We chose to use egg cartons made from recycled material in order to employ a more environmentally-friendly way of creating window displays. The specific kind of steel spoons we chose to use are found in small eateries all over Taiwan. These material are characteristic of family-owned, mom and pop stores such as breakfast shops and dessert stalls. By choosing to use the egg cartons and spoons, we bring an element of surprise and delight to see ordinary objects transformed into a visual display that is also at the heart of the HERMÈS brand. This ties into next year's theme through the idea of a collection of repeated objects that has a special meaning only to the collector - even if these objects seem mundane, they have a secret story only known to the flaneur, who is able to see the potential transformation of these objects.
